Explain CPU (Central Processing Unit)
It is also called processor. It is the brain of computer. It
performs all operation on the data according to the instructions. It has two
parts.
i. CU ii. ALU
i. CU (Control unit)
CU is the important component of CPU. It controls all activities of
computer system. It is also called supervisor of computer.
ii. ALU (Arithmetic logic unit)
ALU is a part of CPU. All arithmetic and logical operation are
performed in ALU. It consists of two units.
a)
AU (Arithmetic
Unit)
b) LU ( Logic Unit)
a) AU (Arithmetic Unit)
Arithmetic
unit of ALU performs basic arithmetic function, such as addition, subtraction
multiplication and division.
b) LU (Logic Unit)
Logic
unit of ALU performs logical operations like comparing two data items to find which
data item is greater than, equal to, less than the other.
